NFL Week 9 predictions

NFL Week 9 predictions
Now that it actually feels like autumn in the Tampa Bay area, it's only fitting that the Bucs are the hottest they've been in a while. Their game against the Falcons is one of the many interesting matchups this weekend, including the injury-plagued Colts traveling to Philly, the don't-count-'em-out Chargers heading to Houston and the surging Raiders hosting division-leading Kansas City. Isn't it crazy to think that at the end of the night the Bucs, Chiefs and Raiders could all have winning records,Steve Breaston Jersey?

Who is Rams Linebacker Jabara Williams-

Who is Rams Linebacker Jabara Williams?
By this point pretty much everyone knows the stories of the top two draft picks for the . Whether you liked or disliked the picks of Robert Quinn and Lance Hendricks you at least have come to an understanding of why the picks make sense for the Rams. Over the next week I will take a deeper look into the later round picks for the Rams. Today we’ll go in depth with Seventh Round Draft Pick Jabara Williams, linebacker from Stephen F,Jamaal Charles Jersey. Austin State.
The Background
This is the type of player that I love to see the Rams taking in later rounds. Taking a player from a small college that had huge production is the recipe for hitting in the late rounds. Williams was a three-time First Team All Southland Conference selection at linebacker. In the past three seasons Williams has had 123, 113 and 108 tackles. That is getting after the ball carrier,Jamaal Charles Jerseys.
In addition Williams projects as an outside linebacker, which is a position the Rams are in desperate need of improving. Williams is a little small at 228 pounds and needs to improve his strength, but he clearly has a nose for the football and seems to be a great fit.
What Will Make the Pick a Success
There are two levels of success for Williams. If Williams comes in and is a special teams warrior then the pick is a success right away. What would be even better though would be if Williams could come in and start battling for the outside linebacker job during the season. In 2010 the position was a revolving door for the Rams. If somehow Williams can come in and get the job after being a 7thround pick from a small college then that would be a great success.
What Will Make the Pick a Failure
The pick would be a failure if Williams were overmatched in the because of his size and his lack of playing major college football. Special Teams will be the key. Williams cannot afford to come in and try to do everything he can on special teams.
Outlook
I have visions of London Fletcher when I look at Jabara Williams. Everyone thinks he is undersized yet his numbers tell you a different story,Andy Studebaker Jerseys. I am not saying that Williams will be anywhere near as good as Fletcher, but there are similarities. Williams produces and will now get an opportunity to do it on the highest level. I love small college guys who get a chance. Williams will have a golden opportunity here with the Rams.

Texans test 'jack of all trades' Casey as long snapper

Texans test 'jack of all trades' Casey as long snapper
is one of the top tight end prospects in the 2009 NFL Draft
Is there anything James Casey can't do?
We all knew this talented athlete from Azle, Texas could play tight end and H-back.
As a quick aside, Azle is right next to Arp (birthplace oflegendary basketball coach and most egregiousBasketball Hall of Fameoversight Guy V. Lewis)as one of my all time favorite names of Texas towns.
Now, back to Casey.
Some of uswere reminded (while others may have discovered for the first time) how well he can throw the ballduring his a couple of weeks ago.
He was a baseball pitcher after all. Wildcat anyone?
Now we come to find out that our very own Texans have tested Casey's skills at long snapper.
This latest revelation came to me while readingon the NFLPA website.
"The Texans have also asked me to deep snap for them," said Casey. "I did it at the Combine and was the backup deep snapper at Rice. I look at it as one more thing I can do to help a team win games."
Casey was one of invited to work out at the Texans training facility yesterday.
So if you're keeping score,Eric Berry Jersey, that would be tight end, H-back, slot receiver, wideout, fullback, quarterback and now ... long snapper James Casey to you.
That does it,Tamba Hali Jersey. I'm sold.
It's just too bad the Texans don't have an extra second round pick because that's where Casey is likely to go. I still see the Texans a bit more needy ondefense and at running back, despite some of the recent free agent acquisitions.
The Texans currently own and considering other needs,I just can't see them spending their second (#46)on Casey. If the Texans were able to pick up an extra draft pick in the late second or early third via trade, thenit would be easier to take a flyer on him.
Although you know Coach Kubiak likes his tight ends and fullbacks,Derrick Johnson Jerseys. And when you have a guy as versatile as Casey doubling as a long snapper, thatfrees up a valuable roster spot instead of staffing it with a
Casey also had a chance to show off his blocking skills for the scouts at his Pro Day - skills that are essential to his success in the NFL. "The Texans tight ends coach put me through some blocking drills," said Casey. "It s hard to judge how well you block on a blocking dummy, but I thought I did really well."
I'm sure he did.

Bryant, Austin, and Ware ready, Witten and Ratliff question marks

Bryant,Stanford Routt Jersey, Austin, and Ware ready, Witten and Ratliff question marks
Although has returned to practice in pads, it's still questionable whether or not he'll be ready for the opener against the on September 5th. Witten still is not taking any hits in practice, and team doctors have not cleared him to play.
“I think we know where it’s at,” Witten said. “I’ve just got to get cleared and put in position to play. It feels good. It feels really good. So, it was good to run around and actually put the pads on and stuff.”
The Giants are preparing for Witten,Matt Cassel Jersey. “We usually take the position that the player is going to play,” Giants head coach Tom Coughlin said. “If it’s otherwise, it’s otherwise,Jamaal Charles Jersey, but we’re not going to be surprised the other way. We’re not going to say that he’s not going to play and then he plays.”
The Cowboys signed tight end Colin Cochert off waivers from the Bengals just in case Witten isn't available. To make room for Cochert, the Cowboys waived back up quarterback Stephen McGee.
Nose tackle is also questionable for the first regular season game. He's taken a few reps at practice, but, has only been off of crutches for a couple of days. It's therefore likely that will get most of the reps at nose tackle against the Giants.
The good news for the Cowboys is that wide receivers and , along with outside linebacker have all returned to practice and, barring further injury, will be on the field on Wednesday. The Cowboys will need all of their stars on the field if they expect to knock off the world champions in their home opener.

NFL enforcement of 'illegal hits' is a blow to the game

NFL enforcement of 'illegal hits' is a blow to the game
Commissioner has made tremendous strides in cleaning up the game since his appointment in 2006. He developed and enforced the NFL Personal Conduct Policy in response to several notable off-the-field incidents involving NFL players and the negative attention that was derived from said incidents. And in light of rampant steriod use in Major League Baseball, put an increased focus into a league-wide performance-enhancing drug program, of which several players have been disciplined for their failed tests.
Now comes his latest attempt of cleaning up the game: cutting down on illegal hits to the head or neck area.
Which, pardon the pun, is a real head-scratcher.
For someone who has spent the better part of his entire tenure as Commissioner at working to restore integrity to the game, this single edict threatens to undermine everything he has been able to accomplish up to this point. According to the memorandum that was sent out to all 32 clubs, Goodell states,Stanford Routt Jersey, "In recent years, we have emphasized minimizing contact to the head and neck, especially where a defenseless player is involved. It is clear to me that further action is required to emphasize the importance of teaching safe and controlled techniques, and of playing within the rules. It is incumbent on all of us to support the rules we have in place to protect players.”
Yet it wasn't long ago that well-known. Which begs the question: what exactly is Roger Goodell trying to accomplish?
On one hand, he expresses a desire from the business-aspect of the league to give the customers (a.k.a., the fans) more bang for their buck. After all, preseason games aren't any less expensive than regular season games. The difference is preseason games are played primarily by scrubs and guys who'll be delivering furniture a month later. On the other hand, he's promoting a safer, cleaner game. Devoid of the huge, crowd-oohing hits that the game has come to be known by. So a quick recap: Goodell wants to remove two meaningless preseason games in favor of an extended regular season, but at the same time wants to cut down on the risk involved with playing said 18-game schedule by fining and/or suspending players who commit illegal hits to the head or neck area.
Call me cynical, but don't the two sound contradictory? He can't ask for more games, while at the same time expecting fewer injuries by penalizing only some hits. The two don't add up.
Now from a player perspective, I'm saying to myself, 'Ok, so how exactly are we supposed to tackle? We can't grab facemasks. We can't 'horse-collar.' If you're the quarterback, I can't touch your feet, knees or head. If you're a receiver, I had better hope you're not in the air (a.k.a. 'defenseless').'
Perhaps Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher summed it up best when he said, "Let's make it the NFFL--the National Flag Football League."
Isn't hard to imagine an NFL without the likes of Hall of Famer Ronnie Lott, who made a living out of enducing fear into receivers and running backs due to his bone-rattling hits? For some reason, I have a hard time picturing him pulling up at the last second in fear of being subject to a fine or suspension. The same goes for someone like former Bucs safety John Lynch, who was renowned for his ability to punish offensive players.
What I'm trying to say is hits--both big and small--are a part of the game, Roger. Yes, there are some hits that deserve harsh repurcussions, but the key word there was some. Not all. As soon as you begin to remove the element of fear from the game, as this would surely do to some extent, you're giving the offense yet another weapon in their already overloaded arsenal of advantageous rules. If Goodell is as serious as he claims to be about 'protecting the shield', then I don't understand how instituting severe punishment for something as essential as a high-impact collision will improve the game.
Maybe that's because it won't improve the game,Steve Breaston Jersey. There will still be concussions. There will still be moments when players lose temporary feeling in their extremities. It is a part of the game. With or without the enforcement of rules, including this one. After all, football is in fact a contact sport. Players understand that. More importantly, they accept it everytime they deposit their checks.
So save the talk of 'protecting the shield' for another day and another topic,Andy Studebaker Jerseys, because by imposing fines and suspensions on players who are simply playing the way they've played for years, you diminish the value of the product on the field. Again, the end result won't be fewer injuries--notably concussions--this season or any season from this point forward. No, the end result would be getting short-changed on seeing what the NFL was built upon: grown men trying to hit other grown men a little bit harder, without fear of repercussions.
Ya know, the good ol' days.

Not much will change offensively with new assistants around the Indianapolis Colts

Not much will change offensively with new assistants around the Indianapolis Colts
This post isn tfor the hard-core fan.
But with the news Thursday of , and with the news later in the week of the naming of their replacements, it occurred to me there may be those who might not quite grasp what the departures will mean to the Colts offense on a fundamental level i.e., what they will see on the field during games.
And to those fans I d say this:
, it s not likely much will change. At least not in terms of approach, and at least not to the casual, television-watching fan. Not to the naked eye.
The reason for that is two-fold:
One is there is a very real chance the two will be back as consultants, which would mean their roles likely wouldn't change much, but even if they do leave, the men still around believe very much in the Colts' philosophies, making big-time change unlikely.
While Moore, the Colts offensive coordinator the past 11 seasons, and Mudd the offensive line coach for the same time were critical to how the Colts built, game-planned and executed one of the NFL s most-intricate, most-successful and most-consistent offenses, their philosophies have over time become part of the fabric of what the Colts do,Eric Berry Jerseys. Moore has a playbook unique in the NFL, and there are few Moore disciples around the NFL,Tony Moeaki Jerseys, but Colts Head Coach Jim Caldwell was the quarterbacks coach from 2002-2007 and the Associate Head Coach last season. He likely won t want to change.
never has had another coordinator in 11 seasons, but equally true is he never has played in another offensive system. Moore s system represents not only Manning s football philosophy, but his football language. He likely won t want to change.
Clyde Christensen, the Colts wide receivers coach who is movinginto the coordinator role, had been the receivers coach since 2002, and has seen the system produce some of the NFL s most productive offensive seasons in the last decade. He likely won t want to change.
With Pete Metzelaars the Colts assistant offensive line coach and a member of the staff since 2004 moving into Mudd s role as offensive line coach, it s unlikely much will change drastically inthat area.
Will there be differences? Certainly. There almost certainly will be wrinkles. Perhaps Manning will have a touch more say,Stanford Routt Jersey, which may be good and maybe not. Or perhaps Caldwell gets more involved in the game-planning than before. Behind the scenes, there may be a shift or roles, but in terms of what the average fan sees on the field passing to set up the run; Manning making changes at the line, quarterback protection as Priority One those things won t change.
Will the Coltsbe as productive? That s impossible to know, but this has been a successful offense, and there are people in place who believe in it, so in terms of how the Colts will approach things, for the naked eye, what you ve seen is likely what you ll still get.

Disparagement of Lions raise ire of players

Disparagement of Lions raise ire of players
It has been a rough season for the . They've started the year 1-3, now they have to visit the Philadelphia Eagles, and to add insult to injury, some rival GM has about the Lions, their players, and their front office.
The gist of what was said was, basically, the Lions have a one dimensional offense, the team is overrated, the defensive line is particularly overrated, and Martin Mayhew and are overrated. Obviously, these can be considered shots, but honestly I don't really care. Whenever the words "overrated" or "underrated" are thrown out in the world of sports, they are almost always being used poorly. It would seem that every team is either overrated or underrated. Nobody ever seems to be properly rated.
As for this particular case, I don't recall many people saying the Lions would be great or contending for the Super Bowl. A lot of people didn't have them in the playoffs. Quite a few folks made salient points as to why the Lions may regress. I even wrote that I didn't think they would be as good, although I thought, due to a perceived easy schedule, their record would be more or less the same.
In terms of the Lions having a one dimensional offense, I don't think you'll hear many people disputing that. The team has struggled to run the ball. This is hardly a shock to hear. This GM didn't really burn Joique Bell here. The defensive line is not overrated, as far as I gather from what I have heard in terms of their rating. is great. Most analysts and scouts and folks who are worth their salt, if this were Ancient Rome, would agree. Cliff Avril is a good player who may have had a career year last season. Nick Fairley has been a disappointment. He's also not even halfway through his second season, and his first was derailed by injuries.
I also am not quite sure how Mayhew and Schwarz can be criticized too much. They took a team that was 0-16 and turned them into a 10-6 team in three seasons. The roster has clearly gotten better. The coaching has been better. Nobody is saying they are legends or anything like that, and they are still building their resume to be honest. I certainly can't complain much about what they've done. Some do want to blame them for the off the field issues this year, but those people are being dumb,Thomas Jones Jersey, so who cares?
Naturally, the Lions' players, as well as Coach Schwartz, were asked to comment on this. To nobody's surprise, they weren't happy. Dominic Raiola said "eff 'em" a couple times. I imagine in private he would have been more content reenacting the final scene from Robert Altman's Secret Honor.
There has been some talk about how the Lions will react to this and how it will impact their play. Obviously, it won't. That is a ridiculous notion. They were going to play hard and try to win. They still will. The Detroit Lions have problems they need to address to reach the next level. Others can see that. Some GM overstated this a bit, and it became a semi-big story. It's all a bit much. Let's hope the intrigue remains on the football field going forward.

Week 12 preview- Detroit Lions v. New England Patriots

Week 12 preview: Detroit Lions v. New England Patriots
is almost upon us, which means it is time for the to host their annual game on that day. The Lions, however, have not won since 2003. Despite their 2-8 record, this is the best the Lions have been in a while, even with their aberration of a season in 2007. With a decent matchup on the schedule, the Lions could have scored a Thanksgiving day win. However, the 8-2 are their opponent. Is another loss on the way?
On offense, the Lions are going to have to rely on the pass. Kevin Smith is on injured reserve and Jahvid Best can barely run. Maurice Morris is a decent running back, but he's probably not going to run wild against the Pats. No, it will be on the shoulders of Shaun Hill,Eric Berry Jersey, Calvin Johnson, Nate Burleson, and the rest of Detroit's pass catchers. Fortunately, New England has one of the worst passing defenses in the league, giving up almost 290 yards per game through the air.
That being said, the Lions aren't likely to have an easy day stopping the pass. Tom Brady may not have big name weapons, but they get the job done. I wouldn't be surprised to see Aaron Hernandez have a great game for the Patriots. He's big, but he's also elusive. With Detroit's general lack of tackling ability, he could be breaking tackles like Jim Brown in his prime. Plus, BenJarvus Green-Ellis has established himself as a solid running back.
This could be a high scoring game. Sure, New England can concentrate on Detroit's passing game, but it's hard to stop Calvin Johnson. Honestly, Detroit's defense and New England's defense are pretty close to one another. It's on offense the Patriots have the major advantage, particularly with Best's injury issues. Since they are at home, I do expect the Lions to keep it close, but this is looking like another loss. Still, it shouldn't be so bad as to sully Thanksgiving, as opposed to previous games. Final Prediction: Patriots 35, Lions 28

NFL Rookie of the Year- Bradford or Suh-

NFL Rookie of the Year: Bradford or Suh?
Next week the will hand out their awards for various achievements during the 2010 season. While there was once a time that the were having players win, and compete for, MVP and Coach of the Year Awards they have not had any serious contenders for any league-wide awards in quite a long time. This year is different. The Rams certainly have a finalist candidate in .
The NFL has three different Rookie of the Year Awards. One goes to the Offensive rookie, one to the Defensive rookie (both voted on by the AP) and then there is a Pepsi Rookie of the Year Award, which will be voted on by the fans. It appears that Bradford will win the Offensive Rookie of the Year Award unless something unforeseen happens.
On the other side of the ball will win the Defensive Rookie of the Year unless something unbelievable happens. The Pepsi Award is nothing more than a beauty contest determined by fan vote, so that really doesn’t count in my mind as to who was the best rookie in 2010. So who was it? The quarterback who pulled a franchise out of mediocrity and had one of the best seasons by a rookie quarterback ever or a defensive tackle who was All-Pro in his first season and is already one of the best defensive lineman in the game?
The stats are very interesting in this debate. Bradford had one of the best years a top picked rookie quarterback has ever had in NFL history. Bradford set rookie records for completions and attempts in 2010 and was second all-time in passing yards. Bradford was also very accurate and increased the team’s win total by six in just one season. The problem comes with the numbers put up against other NFL quarterbacks this season. Bradford lags behind badly. He was 25thin the NFL in QB Rating, 18thin touchdowns and 12thin yardage.
defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh’s numbers meanwhile compare with every defensive lineman’s numbers very favorably. Suh had more sacks than any other defensive tackle in the NFL this season with 10. Suh also was 7thin the league in tackles with 66 making him the 3rdhighest rated defensive tackle in the league in that stat. In short all of the measures place Suh among the leagues’ best right now in that position.
Suh was a dominating player this season and looks like he will be an absolute force in the league for a long time to come and that is why you would vote for him. Bradford on the other hand should be right there in consideration with him though because he changed the Rams franchise and made them a borderline playoff team, while Suh did not hugely elevate the Lions record this season. Suh certainly made them better, but did not have the bigger effect on the bottom line like Bradford did.
So if they had a single Rookie of the Year Award who should they give it to? For the 2010 season I would vote for Suh. He came in and immediately was the best player at his position in the NFL. I don’t care what position you play that is an unbelievable achievement. Suh is everything everyone thought he would be and that is why the Rams weren’t ridiculous for seriously giving thought to drafting Suh first overall instead of Sam Bradford.
With that being said though there is no way in the world the Rams did the wrong thing in taking Bradford over Suh. As great as Suh was he was not going to be six games difference in the win-loss total this season. Bradford is that big of a difference. The NFL is a quarterback’s league and if you don’t have one you don’t win. Some would say that the Lions might have been a playoff contender had Matthew Stafford stayed healthy. It is further proof that you can’t not have a quarterback and win on a consistent basis.
I was on the Ndamukong Suh bandwagon last spring as the Rams were making their decisions. I thought Suh was going to be really special and it appears that will be the case. Luckily though the Rams did just as well and even better drafting Sam Bradford. These two are both future All-Pros and Pro Bowl starters year after year during the next decade. For one season Suh was better than Bradford, but the Rams still made the right choice,Dustin Colquitt Jersey.

Things you might not know about the 49ers

Things you might not know about the 49ers
There are teams that the Texans don't play very often because of the scheduling formula and the 49ers are one of those teams.
The Texans and 49ers have met only two other times. Most recently the Texans barely hung on to beat the 49ers 24-21 in game seven of the 2009 season at Reliant Stadium. In that game the Texans blew a 21-0 lead and 49ers quarterback Alex Smith, who replaced starter Shaun Hill in the 3rd quarter, led a furious comeback with 206 passing yards and three touchdowns to TE Vernon Davis in the second half.
And of course who could forget the Texans only other visit to Candlestiick Park on New Years Day, 2006.
Since many Texans fans don't pay a lot of attention to the 49ers, here's some things you may not know - or things you knew but may have forgotten.
Did you know that the 49ers now have Braylon Edwards and Ted Ginn at wide receiver,Women's Kansas City Chiefs Jersey?
Did you know that Michael Crabtree has been out the entire preseason with a foot injury?
Did you know that former Texan and native Houstonian Moran Norris is (still) the starting fullback for the 49ers? Norris is 33 years old and had previous stints with the 49ers and Lions before retuning to San Francisco in 2009.
Did you know that the 49ers, like the Texans, also replaced half of their secondary during the offseason, signing free agent corner Carlos Rogers (Redskins) and safety Donte Whitner (Bills) earlier this month?
Did you know that the much traveled Josh McCown (Sam Houston State) is the 49ers #3 quarterback behind Smith and second round draft pick Colin Kaepernick?
Did you know that David Akers, who most associate with the Eagles, is now the 49ers kicker?
Did you know that the 49ers offensive and defensive coordinators are former Texans coaches Greg Roman and Vic Fangio? (eek)
Did you know that six Texans coaches used to coach or play for the 49ers? (Gary Kubiak, Vance Joseph, Larry Kirksey, Gregg Knapp, Frank Pollock, Brian Pariani)
Did you know that 49ers star running back Frank Gore with the team? (As Arian Foster waits patiently to get his next year.)
So there's your 49er trivia for the day. Hopefully the Texans play well tonight and come out of the game healthy. Week 1 and Peyton Manning (you're kidding yourself if you think he's not playing) are lurking right around the corner.

Harbaugh kept his postgame celebration simple and quick

Harbaugh kept his postgame celebration simple and quick; no Willis update
The team, Harbaugh said, will be allowed to do some scoreboard watching as they want to see how things pan out. But that wasn't the most important thing on tap for the team.
Several players had echoed the feeling that the team still has to improve on things as the playoff approaches. Now to move on ahead to the games remaining on the schedule.
"Improvement equals success for them," Harbaugh said with a smile.
===
Other notes
The Monday press conference was originally scheduled for noon but it was moved to 3:00 p.m,nike nfl jerseys. so Harbaugh could attend the memorial service for his colleague Chester McGlockton.
Harbaugh jokingly said that the best way to celebrate Frank Gore's record-setting day was to have a statue of the running back made in front of the new stadium.
Harbaugh confirmed that the team won't be resting any players because they still have games they need to win for playoff seeding.
Harbaugh said that LB Larry Grant (the team's special teams captain for the week) played really well in place of Willis,Kansas City Chiefs Jersey. Grant is a hard hitter and even lost his helmet while tackling Rams RB Steven Jackson.
"He's got a high level of contact courage," Harbaugh said.

Indianapolis Colts 2010 offseason primer: The Defensive Ends (part 2)
(2 of 2) | 2
That's what will be missing from the Colts next season.
More important, of course, is what the Colts still will have, and that's two of the elite pass-rushers/playmakers of their era.
Even with the team emphasizing more blitzing and more attacking, in a very real sense, the starting end combination of Freeney and Mathis remained the key to a lot of what made the Colts successful defensively this past season.
The reason is simple:
in the , defensive success and the success of a team in general still largely depends on a team's ability to get opponents off the field on third-down and late-game passing situations. There may be teams equal to the Colts in that area. But there aren't many better.
Freeney, the Colts' all-time career sacks leader, registered 13.5 sacks this season and had 20 pressures, and Mathis second on the team's all-time list in sacks registered 9.5 sacks and a team-high 23 pressures. They also remained what they have been for the last half decade one of the NFL's best duos at forcing turnovers and making critical, game-turning plays in crucial situations.
Freeney forced a fumble this season to bring his career total to 36, with Mathis forcing five to bring his career total to 35 in the category.
Freeney, as has been the case throughout his career, also showed an uncommon ability to play through injuries this past season. In early October, he played and registered a sack a week after sustaining a quadriceps injury many speculated would sideline him for nearly a month.
He turned in a similar performance in the Super Bowl, not practicing for two weeks after sustaining an ankle injury in the AFC Championship Game. He then started Super Bowl XLIV against New Orleans, registering a first-half sack of quarterback Drew Brees.
Even with Brock gone, the Colts won't be without all of their experienced depth. Keyunta Dawson, a seventh-round selection in the 2007 NFL Draft who has played end and tackle in three seasons with the Colts, played mostly end this past season and he likely will be the top backup at the spot next season.
* The roster: RDE Dwight Freeney (9), LDE Robert Mathis (8), Keyunta Dawson (4), Ervin Baldwin (2), J.D. Skolnitsky (1), John Chick (1), Rudolph Hardie (1).
* The breakdown: Freeney and Mathis remain in their primes and remain two of the NFL's best. Observers talk each offseason of the Colts' need to bring in a third pass rusher, but the reality is it's rare enough to have two ends of the status of Freeney and Mathis. Getting a third could be too much to expect. Dawson is a solid backup and has proven reliable and durable in his first three seasons. Skolnitsky spent last season on the Redskins' practice squad, and either he or Baldwin could play themselves into a reserve role in camp next season.
* What the rest of the offseason might bring: The release of Brock surprised nearly everyone, but given he had played eight seasons and was in a backup role, his release doesn't drastically change the nature of the position for the Colts. That doesn't mean they don't need a fourth defensive end. They do, but it may not come in free agency. The Colts did acquire Skolnitsky off waivers and they could sign a player later in the offseason, but more likely a major contributor here would come from either the draft or of the waiver wire shortly before next season.
* Feeling the draft: The Colts almost certainly will draft this position somewhere. Some mock drafts project this is an early-round need, but the Colts' approach typically has been not to draft this position late in the first round, preferring instead to try to pick up backup help in fourth-through-seventh rounds. They tried this approach with Marcus Howard in the fifth round two years ago, drafting an undersized, speed rusher in the vein of Mathis, but released him before last season. This offseason has had a different feel thus far, and if the Colts go defensive end early, that would be another step in a new direction.
* Free agency status: The Colts have made a couple of small early acquisitions in the offseason, including claiming Skolnitsky. Despite a lot of clamoring to get end depth, don't look for any big-name moves here in free agency. That's not how the Colts typically believe in building the roster.

Prediction

Rams/Bears Preview
The St. Louis head to Soldier Field on Sunday to take on the in a game that mostpeople aroundthe NFL will pay no attention to but for these two teams this game means a lot. For the Rams a win is needed in the worst way for Steve Spagnuoloto just get some sort of positive vibes going at Rams Park. The Bears have lost 6 of their last 7 and for the Bears any more losses may signal the end of Lovie Smith as the head coach of the Bears. Two teams with two coaches who desperately need the win. Here is a preview of Sunday's game.

When the Rams have the ball

The main question will be can Steven Jackson can run at full speed and be as good as he was during the first half of the season on Sunday? Jackson will most likely be limited due to injury for Sunday's game and Samkon Gado and Kenneth Darby will have to have more touches this week. What was once a very good defense has become very average in Chicago. The Bears are nothing more then a middle of the pack defense, ranking 18th in the NFL. The Bears are a little better then the Rams on stopping the run but not by much. Ranking 24th the Bears front four are not effective in stopping the run. Adewale Ogunleye is the Bears most effective pass rusher and Tommie Harris is good in the middle of that line. Where the Bears have really been lacking is at linebacker where they have been really hurt by injury. Brian Urlacher has been out since September and former Rams linebacker Pisa Tinoisamoa is also on injured reserve now. When the Rams throw the ball they could have some success throwing to the tight end against that linebacker corps. In the secondary the Bears are better, ranking 15th against the pass.Charles Tillmanand Zack Bowman are both prettydecent cornerbacks and safety Danieal Manning has a knack for making big plays,Dwayne Bowe Jerseys. This is nowhere near the Monsters of the Midway defense that the Bears are known for and one would think the Rams could make some plays.

When the Bears have the ball

Jay Cutler has had a rough first season in Chicago. Cutler has thrown 20 interceptions this season to his 16 touchdowns. Part of the problem that Cutler has run into is that he has little help at wide receiver. Sound familiar? Cutler's favorite target is Devin Hester who is horribly miscast as a number one receiver. Earl Bennett and Johnny Knox are the other wide receivers who are nothing more than journeymen. The one place the Bears will have an advantage in their passing game is at tight end. Expect Greg Olson to be very active against a Rams defense that has had problems covering the tight end. Where the Bears have really failed this season has been running the football. The Bears are dead last in the run in the NFL. That really doesn't mean anything to the Rams because last week the Seahawks were dead last in the NFL before playing the Rams. They weren't afterward. If the Rams can force Cutler to have to win the game throwing the ball I think they might have a chance.

Special Teams

The one thing I don't understand about the Bears is that they have the best kickoff returner in the league, in Devin Hester, and he doesn't return kickoffs. The Bears do get good results from Danieal Manning but it still baffling. Hester does return punts and is a huge threat. Robbie Gould is a very effective kicker in a very tough environment. Brad Maynard is one of the best punters in the league in dropping the ball inside the 20 yard line. The Bears, for all their faults,Ryan Succop Jersey, have very good special teams.

Prediction

After last week I don't think there is anyway you can predict that the Rams will win this game. That doesn't mean that I can't foresee a scenario that it could happen. The Bears are a mess, they don't play great defense and they aren't real good on offense. If the Rams are going to win this game they will have to force Cutler into mistakes and not turn the ball over. I believe that the Rams will play better this week but it won't be good enough. Bears 27 Rams 10.

Looking Back With Sarcasm: The 1999 NFL Draft (pt.2)
For part oneof the 1999 Day timeline, .

12:20pm: With Marshall Faulk as their new running back, coach Dick Vermeil feels comfortable enough with his backfield to select wide receiver of North Carolina State. This is called foreshadowing, as Marshall Faulk announces later this day that he won't play for the Rams without a new contract.
12:24pm: Mel Kiper, draft expert, slugs an intern who refuses to refer to him as "Mel Kiper, draft expert."
12:30pm: Washington, who traded their own pick to Minnesota and traded the draft pick they received from Carolina to New Orleans, takes Chicago's pick in exchange for the former pick of New Orleans to move back up one spot below their original pick. ESPN draft gurus all agree this is a bold move, although none of them can remember why.
12:45pm: Arizona uses the draft pick they received from San Diego that allowed the Chargers to get Ryan Leaf last year. The Cardinals take big play receiver David Boston out of Ohio State. The Cardinals try to call the Chargers war room to offer them thanks, but get no answer since San Diego won't be drafting for 52 more picks,Kansas City Chiefs Jerseys. However, Chargers management's first big decision of the day is coming up, and after much consideration, they elect to go with Chinese food.
1:30pm: In spite of having the best record in the NFL last year, the Minnesota Vikings are able to select the player they had top-rated in this year's draft, QB of Central Florida. Everyone begins to hate Minnesota.
1:40pm: On ESPN's draft coverage, Chris Berman mentions the retirement of Wayne Gretzky, and Mel Kiper, draft expert, refers to him as a "prospect with good vision, lots of upside, but too small to contribute immediately." When he suggests Gretzky may go as a late round pick to New England, Berman has to slap him.
1:45pm: Chicago, who traded down to get New Orleans' pick from Washington, is awoken from a brief nap to select of UCLA, thus ending the biggest run on quarterbacks ever. Five signal-callers have gone in the first twelve picks, making this possibly the best QB draft ever, or at least since 1983. Owners beam with pride, hoping they just hit the lottery and didn't draft 1999's version of Tony Eason.
2:33pm: The Oakland Raiders, who appear to be drafting with the aid of darts,Kansas City Chiefs Jersey, select offensive lineman Matt Stinchcomb of Georgia. Mel Kiper, draft expert, begins a scathing indictment of the Raiders that only culminates when Chris Berman has him sedated.
2:35pm: Helpful Eagles fans actually stop yelling "Eagles suck," and switch to "Giants suck" after New York selects offensive lineman Luke Petitgout of Notre Dame.
2:45pm: The Dallas Cowboys trade up two places to grab defensive lineman Ebenezer Ekuban of North Carolina, for no apparent reason other than his name is "Ebenezer."
3:15pm: The first round winds up with Denver's pick of Tennessee linebacker Al Wilson. Analysts start talking about the second and subsequent rounds as being important in terms of potential. Sports fans start talking to their families again.
Sunday morning, 2:30am: The first sighting of a drunken New Orleans reveler passed out unconscious in a Ricky Williams Saints jersey was reported. Remember where you were when it happened, kids.

Yes, the will draft another player at some point. Promise.

But for now, Trader Andy is blowing em out. Everything must go, to the bare walls.

First and foremost

How Do You Know If Your Child Has ADD? by Jason Rickard
This is one of the biggest problems doctors,Kansas City Chiefs Jersey, parents and children with ADD face,Kansas City Chiefs Jerseys. How do you know your child has ADD in order to take action to prevent it? Not the easiest of questions to answer because as of now there still seems no consistent method of detecting ADD in children, however there are signs to look out for.
First and foremost, one of the most important signs to look out for is if a child gets easily distracted. Up to a certain extent we all get distracted from the tasks that we do but kids with ADD especially have a problem of caring for themselves and taking hold of responsibility for themselves. For example, if a child has school work to finish and if they don't get pushed by their parents to complete the work, they won't attend to it.
Another easy way of detecting problems with distraction that could mean a child has ADD is by observing if the child displays carelessness. Easy to spot signs of carelessness could be frequently forgetting items in school or during outings.
One method used in clinics by doctors is to test if the child can follow instructions properly. Usually children with ADD have a hard time following and keeping up with specific instructions and directions given by others.
Keep in mind that the above are not really symptoms of ADD, they are simply a few points to be aware of so if a child displays these on a frequent basis it could mean that they have ADD. There are exceptions however where kids may seem fine one day and display an array of the above behaviors other days. Doctors themselves can only guess whether a child has ADD or not through display of the above signs, then again a guess remains a guess and cannot be a hundred percent true.
Recent research done in the Brunel University in London has some researchers on a brink of unlocking a way to detect ADD in children through eye tests. This is done by having the child follow a spot of light on a computer screen for thirty seconds. The tests have been claimed to be 93% accurate in identifying kids with ADD and those who didn't suffer from the disorder.
Health professionals are hoping that such a test will succeed in identifying ADD at an early stage in a child's life in order to help prevent the disorder getting worse later on.

Educational Baby Toys are Lots of Fun by Anita Eracybab
If you don't have a baby or haven't had one it may be a difficult task trying to figure out what kind of gift to buy. What we are going to focus on here is a specific age group which is the best way to go about buying gifts for babies since they are changing so rapidly. Babies this age are crawling all over and some are beginning to walk so toys that they can play with in this way are especially desirable.
At this age objects are now more than just objects to look at, they now look at them as things to play with. They are also interested in interactive games and problem solving so with that in mind let's look at some toy ideas.
First off, in keeping with the idea that babies this age are beginning to walk around a bit, push toys are a good choice. The push toys will help them keep their balance as they are learning to walk, just be sure that it has enough weight to give the baby some exercise while working on their motor skills.
Shape sorters are also good choices at this age requiring the baby to sort through shapes and solving problems of how to place one shape inside another and so on. The toys will keep a baby occupied for hours on end.
If you have a sandbox for the baby to play in, sandbox toys like buckets and shovels will be a lot of fun.
Toy telephones and computers are also great. Babies learn a lot by watching us and they will talk forever to an imaginary person on the other end of a toy phone. They love toy versions of adult items. Toy laptops that make beeping noises can be a great gift as well.
Three dimensional pop up books that foster interactivity can be very interesting to babies.
The last items on our list for now are is building blocks. Blocks will be a staple toy that babies will enjoy for years,Kansas City Chiefs Jerseys. Wooden blocks, Lincoln logs, Big Lego's, and other similar blocks will provide hours of creative,Kansas City Chiefs Jersey, motor skill building fun.

by her own actions

Overweight Kids
When I was growing up there was rarely an overweight child. Occasionally someone would be plump, but I can't remember anyone in my class being fat. However, TV wasn't around until I was eight years old and the streets were a safe place to play. We had plenty of P.E. in school and played hard after school. Even as we grew older and had more homework, physical activity was a major part of our lives. And there wasn't as much junk food around yet.
Today, the combination of processed junk food and the lack of physical activity is a deadly combination regarding weight. This is quite obvious to everyone. What is not so obvious is the underlying factor that causes children to use food addictively.
The underlying cause of all addictive behavior is the avoidance of pain,Kansas City Chiefs Jerseys. Unfortunately, many children have a lot of pain to avoid. While this has always been true,Kansas City Chiefs Jersey, what is also true is that the junk food, TV and video games, and the variety of drugs on the streets were not available when I was growing up. Children today can easily turn to processed food, drugs, and TV to avoid their pain.
The problem is they don't know any other way of managing their pain. This is because their parents don't know of healthy ways of managing their pain. The chances are that the parents of overweight children are not role modeling healthy ways of dealing with pain.
Let's take 10 year old Brittany as an example. Brittany is overweight and addicted to sweets and refined carbohydrates. Brittany's father, Samson, is very overweight. He doesn't exercise at all and sits in front of the TV all evening drinking beer. While Brittany's mother, Paula, does not use food addictively and does some exercise, she is addicted to yelling as her way of handling her pain. And her yelling is mostly directed at her only child, Brittany. In addition, Paula's life is totally focused around Brittany. Having no real life of her own, her eyes are always on her daughter. In her eyes, Brittany is a reflection of her and so she has to be perfect. Her imperfections trigger Paula's anger, which creates much stress for Brittany.
Brittany feels invaded and controlled by her mother and resists Paula's control in a way that drives Paula crazy – she overeats. Thinness is important to Paula and she desperately wants Brittany to look the way she “should” look. But there is nothing Paula can do to control Brittany's eating, and the more she tries, the worse it gets.
Brittany has learned to use food to avoid the pain of feeling inadequate, unloved and controlled. She has learned to use food to fill the emptiness she feels when her mother yells at her and expects her to be perfect. Food is the friend she can count on to soothe and comfort her. Paula has tried to restrict the amount of food available in the house, but Samson just goes out and buys more to fulfill his food addiction. And there is always food available at Brittany's friend's houses. There is just no way that Paula can control Brittany's eating.
What Paula can do is take her eyes off Brittany and put them squarely on herself. If Paula wants to help Brittany, she first needs to help herself. She needs to learn healthy ways of handling her own feelings of inadequacy and stress so that she doesn't take her pain out on Brittany.
Paula needs to become a healthy role model for Brittany regarding taking personal responsibility for her own feeling and behavior. Rather than trying to control Brittany, Paula needs to show Brittany, by her own actions, how to take care of her pain in healthy ways. A good place for Paula to start helping herself and her daughter is to download our free course at . By learning and practicing the Six Steps of Inner Bonding, Paula can gradually become the loving parent that Brittany needs.

Laughter Will Benefit Your Autistic Child and You
Laughter will benefit your autistic child and you by facial expressions, laughable sounds, merriment,Kansas City Chiefs Jersey, elation, express happy animation, gaiety, and to become joyful.
It may be difficult to have laughter with your child who has the disorder of autism, because of its many complexities and behavioral patterns. As parent(s), caregiver(s), you can become too serious and forget about how imperative it is to learn to laugh and relieve some of the stress that surrounds you through out the day.
Another benefit is to develop a playful attitude towards problems. Let them be handled with a lighter touch and not to be handled so seriously when tough challenges need to be dealt with. Obtaining laughter through out the day, calms your temper, helps keep your nerves from jumping and being tied up in knots. Laughter will bring release from stress which is another excellent benefit for you and your child with autism.
It is wise to learn laughter from doing what little children do. Put yourself in their position of trying to think their thoughts, participating in their games, listening to their dreams and dreaming with them, adding your input to their imagination and making it happen.
Laughter heals your emotions from being overwhelmed and sets positive healing vibrations into motion. This is another benefit that makes you feel lighter and not to be so serious. In addition, wrinkles in your face have often disappeared from having stress, because of the benefit of laughter.
For me, to benefit from laughter when I realize it is not easy at times, I usually start to tell a funny story about myself and it will make me laugh. Some suggestions for you could be,
* Going to a movie that has comedy.
* Read a book that is comical.
* Read the funnies in the newspaper,
* Take a walk and imagine you are walking in a magical setting and you are going to make all the trees pink because you have the authority to do this, now that you have become the king or queen. Make up an imaginary story to make you laugh.
* Have fun with ideas of how you can make yourself laugh, so you will gain the benefit of being relaxed.
* Making your difficulties comical or looking at them from a lighter side to make them funny, is the secret step to laughter.
At the end of your day, sit down in a chair and reflect on what happened during the day with your autistic child. For example, you may have lost your temper with your child, you were too serious, or you chose not to participate with one of the activities your child was involved in, you became angry over something minor or felt extremely stressed.
Learn from reflecting on the difficulties you may have encountered during that day. Make an effort the next time those issues occur, that you will remember to start to laugh at some of those problems or challenges that you handled too seriously with your child who has autism. You will gain positive benefits for your child and you. It is imperative to remember, never laugh at your child with autism, but laugh with him or her for enjoyment. Make it fun, not cruel.
Meet each new day with a sense of humor. Humor brings laughter and it helps keep your child calm and also you calm. Laughter is truly the best medicine. It is healing and it is enjoyable. It is a positive benefit that will add many years to your life and it will give more of your time for other areas, because there will not be as much stress to cope with during the day.

They appear as fine

Stretch Marks
Some people call them ‘railway tracks', ‘spider webs' or broken skin. Half of all women who have had a baby will experience stretch marks at their abdomen, thighs or underarms. Sometimes it goes away by itself, sometimes they never quite go away.
Stretch marks not only happen to pregnant women but also to people who have lost a lot of weight. Yes, and that includes men too!
What exactly are stretch marks?
They appear as fine, horizontal lines across areas of the body that are prone to rapid weight gain, such as around the stomach area, the back of the arms and thighs, and around the buttock area.
Although your skin has the ability to stretch (elasticity) in order to accommodate natural growth, there are times when the growth rate surpasses the skin's ability to expand. When this occurs, stretch marks will form.
The colour of stretch marks ranges from pinkish to brownish to purplish. Over time they fade until they appear as lines a few shades lighter than your natural skin tone.
What can you do about it?
There are many remedies available, all with differing rates of success. But before you decide what to do, bear in mind that no treatment will completely eliminate the marks. No matter what treatment you choose, the end objective is merely to reduce the appearance of stretch marks as much as possible.
Moisturisers
Keeping your skin well-moisturised may help reduce stretch marks before they even form. Although moisturising ingredients only penetrate the upper-most layer of the skin, they help by ensuring your skin remains supple and more resistant.
Topical Vitamins
Vitamin E has long been touted as a skin miracle but in truth it has limited effect on stretch marks and may only offer slightly better result than moisturisers. However prescription-strength vitamin A (also known as retinol) has an exfoliating effect and penetrates deeper for better results in reducing the appearance of marks. A dermatologist would be able to advise you on the respective therapies available, their efficacy and possible side effects.
Alpha-hydroxy acids
Also known as AHAs, these are derived from fruits and work by exfoliating old skin cells on the surface and encouraging the renewal of cells. By replacing the old with the new, your skin looks and feels better, and stretch marks are reduced so long as you continue with the AHA treatment. However be careful not to expose treated areas to the sun as AHA-treated skin is more sensitive to sunlight.
Laser Therapy
Laser surgery is most effective on marks that are darker than your natural skin tone. As such, it's only possible in the early stages when marks are still forming, rather than at advanced stages when the marks have lightened. You may also need to have a series of treatments to get good results.
Endermologie
This process, offered at many slimming centres, is actually a deep-tissue massage using rollers and a suction device to increase circulation and encourage your body to dispel excess water and toxins. The stretching effect, ironically, is what helps to exfoliate dead cells and reduce the appearance of marks. However, a series of treatments is necessary to see results.
What Doesn't Work,Kansas City Chiefs Jersey?
Be wary of miracle cures. Early measures such as moisturising and exfoliating can help reduce the appearance of marks before they even start, but once the marks are visible there is little you can do.
Most importantly, natural or artificial tanning does not help because the marks don't tan easily. Hence the marks will still be noticeable after tanning, and may even become more visible because of the contrast between tanned skin and pale stretch marks.

If it's an affordable beach holiday you're after

Affordable Family Holidays On The Beach! by Sherwood Caravans
A great beach holiday doesn't have to mean an expensive beach holiday. If you choose the right destination and the right accommodation, you could be staying just yards from the sea and sand, in comfortable accommodation.
It's this combination of comfort and location and price that makes a luxury static caravan the perfect holiday for many families. Today's caravans are modern and fully-fitted, with mains drainage, hot and cold water, fitted bathrooms and kitchens and gas heating. They make the perfect base for a lazy beach holiday for all the best reasons:
Location
Luxury static caravans are usually situated on a dedicated park. These parks can be limited to a few caravans,Kansas City Chiefs Jersey, or they can be larger sites, with full shopping and entertainment facilities. The one thing they have in common is access to the beach. Parks are usually set only a few hundred yards from the sand and often have private access to the beach, away from the general parking areas that are open to the public. This means that you have 24 hour access to the beach, and your holiday home is just a short walk away.
Cost
A static caravan holiday is an affordable way to take your family on holiday. Costing much less than a holiday cottage and providing more space, privacy and luxury than a hotel room of the same price, a caravan lets you have flexibility and independence without having to pay a fortune. If your children are under school age, try taking your trip outside the school holidays when the beach is quieter, and the cost of renting a caravan is less.
Comfort
There's no point saving money on your accommodation if it's badly fitted and uncomfortable. For a really memorable family holiday, you need to find somewhere to stay that's within your budget, but will give you the space and comfort you and your family need. A large static caravan fulfils all these requirements. It is properly floored and carpeted, has plenty of storage, a fitted bathroom and kitchen and comfortable beds and seating areas. Most caravan companies provide bed linen and towels, so your caravan is ready to use the moment you walk in.
If it's an affordable beach holiday you're after, explore the UK's best beaches from the comfort of a static caravan.

during a trip to Stockholm a couple of years ago

The World's Coolest FranchIce
Samuel Johnson said it almost 300 years ago, and I still believe it today ...
"If you're tired of London, you're tired of life."
I enjoy many locations around the world, but none so much as London. It's the center of civilization, as far as I'm concerned. If something is 'happening' there, then it's worth taking note.
That's why I was quite impressed to see the IceBar had set up shop on Heddon Street.
You don't need to have a taste for vodka in all its forms, but it helps. That's not only because Absolut is the financial power behind this motif, but because there is a historically-established reason why cultures from cold climates got this creative with a potato. Not only does it 'warm' a soul from the inside, but in the realm of Absolut, it comes in more guises than you've got time to try in a 30-minute session. That happens to be a customer's time limit in the IceBar, which also limits the number of icebarfights on record.
This is a spinoff of the famous IceHotel in the Swedish arctic zone. If you like to travel, then this is a required destination. It's only a 90-minute flight from Stockholm to Kiruna, where you've got a choice of snowmobile or dogsled (hint: take the sled) to complete your journey to the icy climes of Jukkasjaervi in Sweden's portion of Lappland. It's situated along the banks of the Torne River, widely acclaimed as being the source of the purest water in Europe, if not the world.
I think this is one of the most spectacular scenes in existence. Everything is constructed of pure ice, from the chambers to the furniture to the decor (world-class sculptures from global artists are commissioned to create them each season) to the glassware. The all-ice wedding chapel is booked far in advance and the theater stages world-class productions.
The beds do make the concession of thermal sleeping bags, which are amazingly comfortable, but even if you do get a bit chilled here, I guarantee you'll be convinced it was worth it. I cannot think of a more majestic locale to view the Northern Lights flashing across the cold, crisp sky, bathing the ice in a blue-green glow that melds Nature's wonder with that of man's. The IceHotel is breathtaking in every sense of the word. It's an experience which will be etched into your memory forever.
Thus, it wasn't a surprise to me when, during a trip to Stockholm a couple of years ago, I checked into the Nordic Sea hotel and noticed a scaled-down replica of the IceBar adjacent to the lobby. I loathe queues, so fortunately, I was there on a quiet night and there was no 30-minute limit in effect. I donned the thermal cloak and gloves they provide, ordered an Absolut citron and proceeded to mingle in search of someone to share a toast of 'Skol!'. Trust me, it wasn't hard to do!
Its presence was such a 'natural' in Stockholm that I've thought more than once since then that the IceBar meets the critera for being a fixture in that center of chic that is London. And now it's happened.
The £12 cover is reasonable, the drinks are Absolut, the sculptures and decor are changed periodically --- the cumulative body heat does cause melting over time, so re-building is a necessity --- and the atmosphere is the only thing that is always warm. After all, who's going to pay for a 30-minute stay, garbed in silver thermals, and not be in a festive mood? It's a perfect addition to any festive itinerary.
In chatting with the lovely blonde svensk flicka tending bar that evening, I discovered that Absolut is so pleased with the IceBar concept that they're deploying them elsewhere. Besides Stockholm, they opened a franchice (I couldn't resist the pun) in Milan before venturing into London. That makes sense. Stockholm's ambience is quite-stylish and Milan's is lively-stylish. If the IceBar succeeds in those cities, then it's ready to move up to a London setting.
It succeeds spectacularly. After one visit,Kansas City Chiefs Jersey, and 30 minutes of Absolut, you may just reach for the cellphone and book reservations for the IceHotel, then and there.
If so, you'll join a growing list of those who have found that drinks in your ice can be more fun than ice in your drinks.

Wholesale Travel Gets You There Cheaper
Traveling is one of life's greatest adventures. It can bring joy to the heart and peace to the soul. Unfortunately, traveling can be an expensive proposition, and one that makes adventurous vacations out of reach for many people. When you take advantage of wholesale travel packages, though, you can go on cruises, relax at resorts, luxuriate in the best accommodations at hotels, and fly with airfares that will make your friends jealous.
Wholesale travel can encompass a variety of vacation experiences. You can stay at resort properties, condo properties, timeshare properties, privately owned properties, vacation homes, or coastal beach homes. The keys to finding great wholesale travel opportunities are understanding how the tourism industry operates and having flexibility in your travel plans.
For example, when you call a resort and ask for room rates, you'll most likely be quoted what are called "rack rates,Kansas City Chiefs Jersey." These are the non-discounted rates that resort properties can charge when they're almost booked to capacity. In reality, though, resort properties aren't usually full, and rooms are perishable commodities. If a room goes empty for a night, that represents lost income that the resort can never regain. Wholesale travel packages take advantage of this phenomena and book blocks of rooms at non-peak periods to get the best rates. The resorts readily agree because they need to fill the rooms and they know that guests will spend money on ancillary products, such as restaurant charges, room service, and gift shop purchases.
The same holds true for cruise ships. The ship will sail whether it's at 80 percent capacity or 100 percent capacity. It behooves the cruise line to offer wholesale travel packages to operators in order to fill the cabins before the ship sets sail.
Other types of destinations work under the same principle, which is why wholesale travel is possible across the board. When looking into purchasing wholesale travel packages, here are some things to consider.
Expiration Dates: Many wholesale travel operators use the voucher system, and some vouchers have expiration dates. Before making a commitment, find out how quickly the vouchers expire, and make sure that the company has a low renewal fee in order to extend the life of the vouchers.
Transferable Vouchers: Some companies do not allow participants to transfer vouchers to friends and family members. When you work with a wholesale travel company, be sure to select one that allows you to transfer your vouchers to others.
Blackout Dates: The tradeoff in wholesale travel is that there are restrictions regarding when you can vacation. You can't expect to select a popular destination and travel there during peak season. Before signing up for a wholesale travel package, be sure that your schedule is compatible with the travel date restrictions offered by the company.

Things To Do When You Take A Trip To Australia by Jo Alelsto
Surely, Australia is the smallest continent and can be described by many other superlatives. It is known as the flattest continent as well as the driest inhabited continent. To counter these implausible descriptions, this country and continent is the home of the world's largest coral reef, that is, the Great Barrier Reef. It is also where Mount Augustus can be found, which is known to be the world's largest monolith.
Together with this country's rich history is their rich natural resources. When Australia is mentioned, we immediately think of cute marsupials such as koalas and kangaroos. But more than that, its alpine heaths, tropical rainforests, and marine life boast of a large biodiversity. In fact, it has the largest number of reptiles of any country, with 755 species.
It is indeed a shame if you visit the country and not experience its natural wonders. Here are just few of the things that you can do to experience Australia's mega biodiversity:
1. Be in the company of the ever lovable koalas. As a child, you surely have a favorite teddy bear. You choose to keep it even though it is already old and dirty. Why not live again those sweet childhood memories by being in the company of live teddy bears, which are, the koalas. You can go to Kangaroo Island to meet these cute creatures. In this place, you will also meet other lovable animals such as sea lions, wallabies, platypus, and bandicoots.
2. Swim with the world's biggest fish. Many people are scared at the mere mention of the word whale shark, which is known as the world's biggest fish. If you are one of these people, shake off your fear as whale sharks are actually gentle underwater giants. You can do this by swimming with them on Ningaloo Reef.
3. Visit at least one national park. A nature trip in the land down under will not be complete if you do not visit at least one of its natural parks. One good example is the Kakadu National Park where you can have a first-hand experience of the beauty of the country's rainforest. This place is also the right place to go if you want to have a first-hand look at the Aboriginal cultural artifacts.
4. Experience the underwater spectacle of the Great Barrier Reef. Australia's natural wonder will not be the same without the famous Great Barrier Reef, and you just cannot afford to miss and experience the spectacle it brings, especially if you are a lover of marine life.
If you are a person who just loves to travel, there are indeed lots of reasons why you should get yourself an Australian tourist visa. Besides its natural wonders, Australia also boasts of vibrant and classy capital cities, which include:
1. Sydney, NSW. This city is a combination of urban lifestyle and natural wonder. It is where the world renowned Opera House is located and it is filled with world-class shopping centers. In Sydney, you can also go kayaking under the Harbor Bridge.
2. Melbourne, Victoria. The city prides of known shopping precincts, sophisticated restaurants, and a flourishing art scene.

If you would like to explore exposure in an interactive way

Photos
Nature photography is the photography of animals, birds, fish and other wildlife. We will be discussing marine photography in a future article, because it involves specialist, expensive equipment and assorted diving skills. Here are some important things that you\'ll need to know..
Nature photography offers special challenges to the photographer,Kansas City Chiefs Jersey. Not least of which is the developing process of film itself. When single reflex print film is developed it goes through two processes, development and printing. The development produces a true color; however automatic printers do printing processes these days. In most cases these are set automatically to reproduce flesh tones, the color of skin. As a tonal color this is not very much represented in nature so that when your film is printed, the colours shown, are not necessarily the colors that were shot. This can be frustrating when you are trying to improve your technique. One way to see an instant improvement is to use slide film, this only goes through the first process of development, and the distortions that occur in printing are eliminated.
The medium to top of the range, digital cameras also improves tonal quality as well as having improved highlight and shadow features. The disadvantage to the use of SLR digital in nature photography is that the consumption of battery power is higher, and you may not be in a position to re charge them in remote places. Also the delicate sensors in digital cameras can be damaged when dust gets in the mirror chambers.
Another challenge for the nature photographer is to understand how a light meter works. Light meters reflect light off a surface, but they cannot measure tone, which is a shade of color. As it cannot register a shade of color. It makes a basic assumption that the surface measured will reflect 18% of the incident light, that means the amount of light falling on a subject. In practise that means that regardless of the color of the object it will provide a reading that assumes you want to produce a shade at 18% mid gray. If you then set your aperture opening at the suggested setting it will produce 18% of grey in the finished image. Unfortunately there is not that much grey in nature, but there is plenty of pure white, for example snow, and clouds.
Once you have obtained your light reading you have to manually adjust the aperture setting so that the final tonal colour will be white and not gray. To reproduce a pure white image you may have to open your f/stop settings by 2 full points. Conversely if you want to reproduce pure black then you have to close down the aperture, by 2 ½ to 3 f/stops. An f/stop is only a numerical number that represents how far the aperture is open.
In changing light conditions for both sand and snow, bracketing is a useful technique. It means that you take or three extra exposures at different settings, so that you can almost guarantee the perfect exposure. If you have determined the best exposure is to be taken at 1second at f/16, then to bracket using slide film, you would also shoot additional exposures at 1/2 f-stop settings above and below the \"best\" exposure setting. This means 1 second at an f-stop between f/16 and f/22; and 1 second at an f-stop between f/11 and f/16. This is 1/2 stop above and 1/2 stop below your meter reading.
For the beginner it is useful to record your exposure information in a notebook. It will help to better your techniques when the film is developed.
Record the f/stop, the shutter speed and whether the exposure was as a result of the light meter reading or whether it was adjusted for some other reason. You can also write this information directly on to your slide mounts, because you may think you will remember, but chances are you won't! Whilst on the surface bracketing seems expensive, it does not have to done all the time, after a while you will have a feel for a how your own camera reacts, but it is a good technique to use when a shot is really important.
If you would like to explore exposure in an interactive way, this is a simcam simulator and you change your exposure and shoot and see instantly the effects.
All nature photography is improved by the use of slow film; never use more than ISO100, and ISO50 is better still. When you use slower film it increases the danger of camera shake. To minimise this a solid tripod is a good investment. Virtually everyone buys one that is too light at first. It may have to support the weight of your camera over rough terrain. Nature photographs are amongst the most saleable of pictures and the sharper they are the more saleable they become. A tripod helps here because it stabilizes the camera. Make sure that your tripod legs are independently adjustable to take full advantage of low shots. These low shots are used often in natural photography for instance in shooting flowers. A tripod is usually in two parts the head and legs, the head needs to be able to moved up and down as well as to tilt.
Every nature photographer initially balks at the tripod because it is heavy and unwieldy, but it is an essential piece of equipment that makes sure your images are razor sharp. The start up costs of being a nature photographer are high, you need good optical equipment and excellent tripod. Can you take good photographs without a tripod? O course you can, but are they marketable in a highly competitive field, can you make more money by investing in the best equipment money can buy.
The quality of the light is also crucial in nature photographyand it is always better early in the morning or late afternoon, or when the sky is slightly overcast. Harsh midday glare does no favors to the nature photographer as the resultant images lack depth.
There is also a specialist magazine available online for the nature photographer . Their resource links are excellent and they have free issues available for you to read.
